Hehe, so spot on.
Mild misogyny is entirely appropriate in today's social climate. It doesn't mean you have to become a QRS, but you have to have a healthy awareness that women are congenitally full of shit. |

Wait, what? Where'd the misogyny thing come from? The point of the comic was that the women would not actually have reacted all crazy-like, as she did in
the dude's anxious imagining.
"Nothing can hold you back - not your childhood, not the history of a lifetime, not even the very last moment before now. In a moment you can abandon your past. And once abandoned, you can redefine it. If the past was a ring of futility, let it become a wheel of yearning that drives you forward. If the past was a brick wall, let it become a dam to unleash your power. The very first step of change is so powerful, the boundaries of time fall aside. In one bittersweet moment, the sting of the past is dissolved and its honey salvaged." --Tzvi Freeman

Laird Shaw wrote:For such a optimistic freespirit the amount of negative imagery and self defeating trash that's run through my head since day one is unbelievable. It would literately terrify most people. It's a constant daily battle with myself. Maybe I am a melancholy type who through sheer force of will and ego strength has compartmentalized my depressive emotions. Or then again, maybe I'm just a romantic, dreamer type who'd rather think than do.

You know what? I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that you're probably in good company on this forum - I suspect that the types who are
attracted to posting in places like this on the internet are the same types who suffer from the type of thoughts that you've described. It's good that
we have places like this to support one another.

Jeebus. What on Earth has made everyone on this forum so terribly critical of women? Women are really not so different from men.

I still don't see what from the original post was critical of women?

IMO the comic expresses the tendency for some to have low self esteem. Perhaps also an indicator of social sexual harassment paranoia.

If anything it is critical of males ?

Not strictly critical of males, but most strongly from a male perspective.

Kind of how both sexes are shy, but experience their shyness in different, and often amusingly contradictory ways.

Yeah, men blame themselves and women blame men.

Freakin hilarious.
Unfortunately I think the male perspective is more true, at least among college age people. I hear a lot of people described as "creepers" when they really haven't done anything except look slightly different than more popular people, while attempting to act the same way (i.e. flirting, talking or making eye contact). |
